  Nigerians have taken to social media to call out billionaire Aliko Dangote for selling his bag of cement for N5200 in his own country but selling at N1500 in Benin Republic. A Twitter user identified as @drpenking called out Dangote for selling his bag of cement for N5200 in Nigeria despite the fact that the raw material is sourced locally in Nigeria. According to the Twitter user, the billionaire needs to explain why he sells at a higher price in Nigeria but sells it at N1500 in seme, Benin Republic. He tweeted; “Dangote cement is produced in Nigeria . The raw material is sourced locally in Nigeria at almost zero cost. Nothing is imported. Almost zero taxes yet the price of cement is 5,200 Naira in Nigeria and same is sold in Seme, Benin Republic at 1,500 Naira. Julius Abure, national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), says Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the party, will be declared president of Nigeria by the tribunal. Abure spoke while addressing some Nigerians in the United States during a tour of the country. Obi who came third in the presidential election held in February and his party are challenging the outcome of the poll.   They are asking the court to nullify the victory of Bola Tinubu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Abure, who is on a tour to the United Kingdom and the US, said the judgment by the presidential election petition tribunal, PEPT, is expected to come on or before September 16. “Following Peter Obi’s participation in the 2023 general election, we changed the political narratives in Nigeria. We gave them a run for their money,” he said. “They have murdered sleep and they will sleep no more. They have stolen what is not for them and they will not sleep until we recover it all.”

  Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin has been confirmed dead after genetic analysis of bodies found in Wednesday’s plane crash, Russian officials say. The Investigative Committee (SK) said the identities of all 10 victims had been established and corresponded to those on the flight’s passenger list. Prigozhin’s private jet came down north-west of Moscow on 23 August, killing all those on board. The Kremlin has denied speculation it was to blame for the crash. The SK said it was continuing a criminal investigation. “Molecular-genetic testing has been completed,” it said in a statement. “According to its results, the identities of all 10 deceased have been established, and they correspond to the list published in the flight manifest.” The victims include several senior figures in Wagner, a Russian mercenary group set up by Prigozhin and involved in military operations in Ukraine, Syria and parts of Africa. A Nigerian Air Force aircraft departed Abuja on Sunday afternoon for Paris, France.  The Dassault Falcon 7X, with registration number 5N-FGU, departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 4.18 pm due to a delay as its Scheduled Time of Departure (STD) was 3 pm. The reason for the delay could not be established at the time of filing this report. However, SaharaReporters learnt that the aircraft is expected to touch down at Paris-Le Bourget Airport by 10.42 pm.  The aircraft landed in Abuja at 6 pm from Gombe on Saturday and in the last six days, it has been to Lagos, Abuja Maiduguri, Kano and Gombe.  It is also not clear why the Nigerian Air Force aircraft departed for Paris or the identities of the people on board; however, SaharaReporters learnt that it could be connected to the political crisis in the Republic of Niger following the July 26 coup d'etat that ousted its democratically elected president, Mohamed Bazoum.   The Defence Headquarters has said troops in various operations across the country killed no fewer than 23 terrorists and arrested 137 criminals. The arrested criminals consist of five kidnappers; 22 oil thieves; one informant among others. The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen Edward Buba, in a statement on Friday, said the operations were conducted between August 14 and 25. He also said 41 kidnapped citizens were rescued in the operations.  It    partly read, “The counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations being conducted by troops continue to produce results. Though, the men and women of the armed forces are fighting and dying for the country every day; they have made great strides. “The military will continue the momentum of its operations by mounting pressure on groups seeking to undermine the security of citizens and the nation. “The update on the operations across the 6 geopolitical zones as of 25 August 2023, reveals that; the military neutralized 23 terr
